Privacy

Privacy policy

Short version: I collect as little as possible, I don't sell anything, and I tell you what the newsletter uses your email for.

What this site collects

Bad Royalties is a static site. The pages themselves do not set any tracking cookies and do not load third-party analytics, advertising, or fingerprinting scripts. Standard server access logs are kept for operational and security reasons (things like IP address, user agent, referring page) and are retained for a short period before being deleted.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to the newsletter, I store your email address for the purpose of sending you the newsletter. That's it. The list is not sold, rented, traded, or shared with advertisers. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, which removes your address from the list.

Contact form

Messages sent via the contact form or by email are stored in my inbox. I don't use them for anything other than responding to you and, where relevant, sourcing reporting.

Links to other sites

Articles on Bad Royalties link to outside sites — news outlets, platforms, legal sources, industry organizations. Those sites have their own privacy practices and I have no control over them.

Updates

If any of this changes, I'll update this page and date the change. Last updated: January 2026.
